Man Jailed Three Years For Intentionally Infecting Someone With HIV
He knew he wasn't taking his meds regularly and still had unprotected sex with her.
Earlier yesterday, Jamaican man Jermaine Scott, 39, was found guilty of intentionally infecting his ex-girlfriend with HIV while they were together in 2009. According to Daily Mail UK, Jermaine knew he wasn't healthy and not taking his meds regularly, but he still slept with her without protection. However, soon after she tested positive and filed a case against him, he was released due to lack of evidence. Immediately, he fled the country and went back to Jamaica.
Nevertheless, this year the victim asked authorities to re-open the case, and with the help of new technology, medical experts were able to link both genetics together. Thankfully, he was deported back to England and found guilty. He was sentenced to three years in prison, but what he did to her permanently affected her life.
Speaking outside court Detective Sergeant Emma Myers said the victim would 'live the rest of her life forever marred by the actions of Scott.'
She said: 'It has taken more than 12 years to reach this point, and having supported the victim throughout the investigation, I have seen first-hand the pain and suffering that she has endured, both physically and psychologically. Scott's actions…
