Neighbors Of Deceased 16-month-old Toddler Say It Wasn’t The First Time She Had Been Left Alone
In a tragedy that has left many in tears, neighbors of deceased 16-month-old Jailyn Candelario told CNN that it wasn’t the first time her mother had left her alone in the house. However, they always tried to help.
According to Daily Mail, on June 8th, 2023, 31-year-old Kristel Candelario left her daughter unattended while she went clubbing and parting in Detroit and Puerto Rico. As she spent the next ten days of her life enjoying herself and forgetting she was a mother, her daughter sadly died from starvation, dehydration, and neglect.
Upon her return, she called first respondents, who pronounced her dead on the scene in a playpen filled with ‘soiled blankets and a bottom liner, saturated with urine and feces. Nonetheless, neighbors told CNN that it wasn’t the first time Kristel had left her alone despite telling her it was wrong.
Speaking to CNN, one of the neighbors and her daughter said, “Jailyn was a lovely child who didn’t deserve to die in such a manner. We kept telling her not to leave her by herself, not just me, my friend across the street too, but she always did. She could have knocked on any of our doors and asked us to take care of her, and we could have. She was just a wonderful baby, and we are just upset by her death and the state in which they found her.”
However, social media users feel everyone around her should be blamed, including the grieving neighbors. One angry mother said,
“that child was failed by all of them including those neighbours that are now crying crocodile tears. Why didn’t they call the police or child services when all this was happening, since it wasn’t the first time? They are all to blame honestly and should be charged. All this could have been avoided if one of them did what is right. May the little angel rest in peace.
As of today, Kristel is still held on a $1 million bond at Cuyahoga County, Ohio. However, it’s unknown if she has entered a plea deal or not.
What do you think about this case? I always hear labor is painful, but with the amount of murder and neglect cases l see, l don’t know. I guess l will find out the day l become a mother, too — God willing.
