Tragic As 21-Year-Old Dies Of Rare Cancer After Being Told A Lump Was Nothing To Worry About

Jenna Pattel was allegedly dismissed by a doctor despite insisting that something was wrong with her. “it’s nothing to worry about. We think it’s a cyst.”

Speaking to Machester News Evening, her little brother Liam narrated her ordeal. “She came home one day and called me over and said I have a little lump on my shoulder, and I told her it did not look so bad but to get it checked out. She went to the doctor, and they said, ‘It’s nothing to worry about; we think it’s a cyst. However, it continued growing, so she returned, and after a few more tests, they found out it was something worse”. She was then diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma — a rare bone cancer, but unfortunately, it was too late.

Though Patel began her chemo in early March 2021, and things seemed to be going well, her health entirely declined around December of that same year when she took a break from the treatment. She died on May 13, 2022, shortly after her 21st birthday, and those who loved her will remember her forever.

In her honor, her family opened a GoFundMe dedicated to “raising money for the Ewing’s Sarcoma Research Trust, which supports families in similar situations and funds research for the disease. According to the Trust, symptoms typically include pain around the
